Already seen it! Too noisy! Not enough sunlight! You know how it works: the truly flawless terraces are hard to spot. So we scoured the city to find them for you—we even checked out their sun and wind resistance…and tada! At last, here are our top terraces in Montreal.
The most ephemeral: The Alexander. This hidden terrace comes out when the weather is fine and closes at the end of summer, opening up periodically for events. Nestled on a traffic-less street, the urban atmosphere is surprisingly serene. $9 cocktails and draft beer.
The most underground: The Spanish Club. Located on The Main, this terrace is not very easy to spot. Take a walk up to the first floor, and you’ll find a huge room that smells of paella. Overlooking Clark Street, it’s the perfect environment for sangria drinking. The only downside: you must be a club member to enjoy the terrace ($25/year). But once you’re registered, you can take all your friends with just one membership.
The most eco-friendly: Manitoba. In addition to being a quiet location, their terrace is filled with flowering plots (and is located close to Alexanderplatz), you will not be disappointed by the wild and organic menu that is constantly changing.
The most rustic: Bistro des Moulins. A special shout-out to this beautiful (and misunderstood) terrace, located in the district of Ahuntsic, where one can have a drink (and some food) by the bucolic riverside. We also took a break after a morning bike ride along the Lachine Canal and stopped at St. Ambroise Terrace, where the beer flows freely. The beer is brewed on site, so you can even see the tanks where your drinks are being manufactured.
The best view: Terrace Place d’Armes. Located on the eighth floor of a chic hotel, its stunning view of the Old Port is something you could never get tired of. Trendy, elegant dishes paired with great music; an ideal combination.
